This is a clip from James Bond's Casino royale film that is apart of the bond series. i got this clip off youtube so that i could research and analyse this clip, i am going to discuss the key terms of cinematography and how it effects this clip.
first i would like to talk about mis en scene, the scenary of this clip is dark and dull this connotes the meaning of mysterious Bond is not a thriller but at times in a Bond film the conventions might connote an enigma. this also give the audience a feeling of not seeing and hiding because Vespar is being kidnapped it relates to the feeling of not knowning or being able to understand clearly so we are shocked to see him run into his car.

I am going to analyse the thriller trailer called “Kiss the girls, I will talk about the codes and conventions of a thriller genre. The trailer that I am analysing shows me that the film genre is thriller because I can take out the conventions as characters, props and costume, lighting, setting, camera, sound, narrative/storyline. The trailer differs from a horror film because it is less about gore explicit graphics and focuses more on suspense and tension also it tries to make an enigma.

The characters in this trailer are crime solvers, police officers and serial killers. This connotes the sense of enigma police officers always tend to deal with puzzle solving in thrillers its a job. The reason they used police officers is to show the target audience that the film is going to be about solving puzzles, the women escapes but she can not remember where she's came from, the star has had his niece kidnapped by the same person but in the trailer they hide is identification so that it leaves the audience guessing till the end of the film. The lighting is dark and dull because it has aspects of a slasher/stalker thriller, the antagonist is kept hidden in the dark this shows that the director is trying to hide is identification. The difference that makes this feel more like a thriller is the realism in it, the antagonist is not supernatural but is more of a human being hiding in dark caves trying to creep out at the audience when he has his chance. The lighting when the freed women is around the police station is more brighter and jolly this connotes that the women has found her freedom she is no longer locked up in the puzzle and is the new protagonist to help save innocent victims, in the 2.00 point of the clip the camera shot is shown as low angle and is dark with spot lights around the antagonist the low angle camera shot connotes the antagonist as being very powerful and invulnerable this shows that this human in camera is the antagonist because he has complete control over the camera and is shown as superior, also the lighting is dark and the antagonist has spot lights around him to hide his identity this is to leave the audience puzzled. The storyline connotes that this trailer is a crime thriller, the story is a killer is on the loose and the police need to find him, a women from the killers base / headquarters escapes free meanwhile the protagonist Morgan Freeman's niece gets kidnapped by the same killer this makes a puzzle to solve for the police, when the women agrees to help the protagonist it connotes that she is a clue to the films puzzle. The editing is face paced this makes a sense of action for the audience, the fast paced editing connotes that the film is very pacey and bring the audience a thrill of action and excitement. The camera shots have hidden the location of the antagonist this is because we see the girl running away and it shows mid and long shots so that we can only see her and where she is running, the camera leaves an impression with the audience that antagonist can either be in a cave, woods or in a house we see shots of the antagonist being in the house but we see shots of the women running away in caves and woods this is also a puzzle to the audience, the whole sense of the thriller is to make sure the audience does not know who the killer is and where he/she is this is called enigma the camera wants us to go along and fit the puzzle pieces together so that we can be successful in finding the defeating the antagonist.
